This class will break down the techniques required to master the four strokes of Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly in a fun and enjoyable way. This is the first step into introducing swimmers to the possibility of advancing in swimming skills and swim techniques. It is designed for swimmers who have basic knowledge of all four strokes. To participate in this class your child should be confident in each swimming stroke for 25m, and swim full stroke for 25m showing correct breathing. Once graduated your child will be able to efficiently swim strokes for at least 50m and have efficient breathing.

Research shows that regular swimming increases oxygen delivery to the brain. By having a good time swimming, your child will be able to focus on daily activities and study more efficiently.

CURRICULUM

This class is aimed at swimmers who are confident in the water and have grasped the basic fundamentals of kicking,

breathing and arms for each competitive stoke. SwimShark have a structured progressive programme which constructs competent four stoke swimmers that will be swimming completely independently. Children will begin to learn more advanced skills and drills to further enhance their understanding of the water.

Our Stroke Development class provides your child with the opportunity to develop all four swimming strokes from a basic technique through to being efficient and effective in the water.

The skills taught during our Level 2 – Stroke Development swimming classes:

• Increase focus on 4 stroke development (Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly) – including fundamental components of the butterfly
• Streamline body positioning
• Lifesaving skills
• Swim all 4 strokes 50m efficiently and gracefully showing correct breathing
• Gain stamina in swimming
• Learn racing techniques
• Introduction to all competitive dives, starts and turns
• Ease in swimming repeatedly continuous laps
• Swimmers will compete against the clock to challenge their own personal bests across the four competitive strokes, plus their performance in individual racing & team relays
